Awel Sultan - our local head guide is from Bale Dinsho in Ethiopia. He grew up in the Bale Mountains. From an early age he started learning from his father who works as part of the monitoring team at the Ethiopian Wolf Project in Bale Mountains National Park.

Awel is certified by Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He is specialised in birds and ecology through Frankfurt Zoological Society, trained in birding by RockJumperBirding in Southern Ethiopia and Utah University in South Africa. He has worked five years as a birding guide around Ethiopia.

Awel has a unique and profound knowledge about birds and habitats in Ethiopia. He is particularly knowledgeable about Bale Mountains and Harenna Forest, two of Ethiopia's absolute hotspots for birding.

Joakim Larsen - our tour leader is from Copenhagen, Denmark. More than 20 years with service logistics and management in the Danish tourism industry has given Joakim wide knowledge and experience in the field.

For years Joakim has travelled all over Ethiopia. Today he speaks the language and has comprehensive knowledge about the country, its various regions, local features and many different peoples.
